PipelineGuard: Fiber-Drone Monitoring System

This solution addresses the need for unmanned pipeline inspection by deeply integrating distributed optical fiber sensing technology with autonomous UAV systems to establish a closed-loop mechanism of "perception-verification-response." The optical fiber network serves as the "ears and nerves" for continuous monitoring, while UAVs act as the "eyes and voice" for on-site verification and intervention. This creates a rapid response system requiring no manual intervention, significantly improving pipeline protection efficiency and reducing operational risks.

System Architecture Design

Hardware Deployment:

  • Installation of armored single-mode sensing optical cables along the entire pipeline, supporting DAS with a maximum monitoring distance of 80 km.

  • Deployment of automated UAV base stations at valve chambers and compressor stations, with each station covering a radius of 20 km.

  • Establishment of a 5G/4G communication network to enable real-time data transmission between the optical fiber system and UAVs.

Technical Parameters:

  • Optical fiber sensing: 1000 Hz sampling rate, 10 m spatial resolution, ±5 m positioning accuracy.

  • UAV response: Launch within 30 seconds, arrival at target location within 3 minutes (within a 5 km range).

Intelligent Response Mechanism

Monitoring and Identification:

  • Real-time detection of intrusion events (mechanical excavation: 80-200 Hz, manual excavation: 200-500 Hz).

  • Accurate identification of leakage anomalies and third-party construction activities.

Multi-Level Response:

  • Reconnaissance mode: Low-altitude patrol and thermal imaging detection.

  • Warning mode: Automatic voice broadcast alerts.

  • Deterrence mode: Warning light tracking and continuous monitoring.

Data Transmission:

  • Real-time transmission of on-site video and environmental data to the control center.

  • Automatic recording of event verification results into the management system.
