PipelineGuard: Intelligent Pipeline Security Monitoring Solution

This solution addresses the safety monitoring requirements of the China-Myanmar pipeline by integrating Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS), Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS), and Pipeline Leakage and Intrusion Monitoring (PLIM) systems. It establishes a complete "perception-analysis-warning-disposal" monitoring chain through a composite sensing optical cable that simultaneously collects vibration and temperature data. Combined with intelligent algorithms, it achieves accurate identification and localization of external damage, geological hazards, leakage incidents, and abnormal activities, creating a comprehensive solution from second-level warning to disposal closure.

Fully Distributed Optical Fiber Sensing Network Deployment

  • Deploy single-mode armored sensing optical cable along the entire pipeline, supporting DAS monitoring distance up to 80km

  • DAS system configured with 1000Hz sampling rate, 10-meter spatial resolution, achieving ±10m positioning accuracy

  • DTS system with 1-meter spatial resolution, ±0.5°C temperature measurement accuracy, measuring range from -40°C to 150°C

  • Deploy centralized data processing units at pumping stations and valve chambers for real-time data collection and analysis of the entire pipeline

Intelligent Event Identification and Tiered Warning

  • Intrusion monitoring: DAS identifies abnormal vibrations from mechanical excavation (characteristic frequency 80-200Hz), manual excavation (200-500Hz), and vehicle traffic

  • Leakage monitoring: DTS detects abnormal temperature changes combined with pressure data for leakage diagnosis

  • Geological hazards: Identifies slope slippage, ground settlement, and other slow deformations through strain monitoring

  • Establish three-level warning mechanism (observation/warning/alarm) through multiple channels including audible and visual alerts, SMS, and platform push notifications

Rapid Response and Disposal Closure

  • System automatically generates warning work orders containing event type, location coordinates, and risk level

  • Push to mobile terminals of nearest patrol personnel while simultaneously notifying dispatch center

  • Field personnel provide disposal feedback through APP, uploading site photos and handling results

  • Establish event handling time indicators: warning receipt ≤2 minutes, on-site confirmation ≤30 minutes, disposal completion ≤4 hours

IV. System Efficiency Optimization and Maintenance

  • Generate weekly monitoring efficiency reports including false alarm rate, missed detection rate, and processing timeliness indicators

  • Monthly algorithm model updates using historical data for machine learning optimization

  • Quarterly system calibration and maintenance to ensure monitoring accuracy

  • Establish case database to continuously improve identification features for different event types
